This advanced fine-art cross stitch design, The Apple Seller, was developed from an 1890 painting by the famed impressionist artist Pierre-Auguste Renoir. A young country girl is offering apples to Renoir's wife, Aline. It is thought that the boy in the straw hat is Renoir's nephew, Edmond, but it is not known who the young girl with the ribbon in her hair is. The little dog seems to provide some humor to an otherwise tranquil scene. The painting of this scene is thought to have taken place in Essoyes in eastern France.
