This advanced fine-art cross stitch design, Water-Lily Pond, was developed from an 1899 painting by the well-known French artist, Claude Monet, who was regarded as the founder and leader of the Impressionist group of artists. Monet developed a water garden with an arched bridge on the property he purchased in Giverny in 1883, where he lived until his death. This water garden is the subject of the Water-Lily Pond painting. He created several paintings of his beloved lily pond in differing light conditions, many showing a single subject. Water-Lily Pond currently resides at The Metropolitan Museum of Art.
