This advanced fine-art cross stitch design, Water-Lilies, Evening Effect, was developed from a painting by the well-known French artist, Claude Monet, who was regarded as the founder and leader of the Impressionist group of artists. Monet began the construction of his water garden in 1893 and waited patiently for the new plantings to take root. He painted Water-Lilies, Evening Effect during the period of 1897 to 1899. He was intrigued by the contrast of the pale luminous petals as they floated on the opaque water. This painting resides at the Musée d'Orsay in Paris, France.
