This advanced fine-art cross stitch design, The Grand Canal, Venice, also referred to as "Blue Venice" was developed from a painting done in 1875 by French artist Edouard Manet who is defined forever as one of the world's greatest artists. Manet created this painting while in Venice with his friend and fellow painter, James Tissot, who was not an impressionist artist. Although Manet found the watery splendor of Venice hard to capture, this painting became one of his most exciting impressionist art works. It resides at the Shelburne Museum in Shelburne, Vermont.
