This advanced fine-art cross stitch design, Oleanders, was developed from a still-life painting by Dutch artist Vincent Van Gogh done in 1888. Van Gogh loved oleander blossoms, and in this painting these flowers fill a majolica jug. The book on the table, Émile Zola's La joie de vivre, is a novel used by Van Gogh in another painting done in 1885. Oleanders resides at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
