This advanced fine-art cross stitch design, Irises in Monet's Garden, was developed from a 1900 painting by the well-known French artist, Claude Monet, who was regarded as the founder and leader of the Impressionist group of artists. The focus of this painting was developed from the artist's garden at Giverny. Monet was passionate about surrounding his home with flowers and planted primarily irises because of their blue and violet hue. In this painting, Monet created a floating effect of irises which a visitor described as a haze of lilac in the sun. This painting resides at the Musée d'Orsay in France.
