This advanced fine-art cross stitch design, Argenteuil, was developed from a painting done in 1874 by French artist Edouard Manet who is defined forever as one of the world's greatest artists. The boater in this painting is in the company of a young woman, the typical middle-class courting couple. The boat is on the edge of the Seine at Argenteuil, and in the background of the painting is the village of Argenteuil, a small village northwest of Paris. This painting resides at the Musée des Beaux-Arts, Tournai, Belgium.
