This fine-art cross stitch chart was developed from Three Dancers in an Exercise Hall painted by Edgar Degas in 1880. The neutral tones in this painting are unusually beautiful. Degas was already a successful painter when he began his series of ballet dancers, which was quite a departure from the work he had done previously. His focus shifted from the reality of everyday life to that of intense dedication to craft. One of the gifts of the ballet dancer series is the great detail and the depiction of the intense dedication and expressiveness of the dancers. The paintings in this series are scattered among several museums or are in private collections.
