This advanced fine-art cross stitch design, The Bunch of Lilacs, was developed from a painting done in 1869 by French artist James Tissot (tee-soh). Tissot was extraordinarily talented in painting beautiful attire worn by women of society. He spent eleven years in London and was active in London society. It was during this period that he painted many beautiful paintings of the women of society. The woman in this painting is holding a bouquet of lilacs in a botanical garden, attired in a stunning gown and beautifully reflected in the marble floor.
