Kathleen Newton at the Piano Cross Stitch Pattern - James Tissot

$9.97

Regular and Large print chart included.

This downloadable fine-art cross stitch design was developed from the painting, Kathleen Newton at the Piano, done by French artist James Tissot in 1881. Tissot enjoyed having children in his household, and many of his paintings at this time showed his contentment with domestic life. Kathleen Newton, sitting at the piano surrounded by children, was at one time married to Dr. Isaac Newton, a surgeon in the Indian Civil Service. This marriage ended in divorce. She had two children at the time she lived in James Tissot's home and was the model for several of his paintings.

The children in this painting have been identified as Kathleen's son, Cecil, who is at her left and would be about five years of age, the girl behind him is thought to be his sister, Violet, about ten years old, and the other girl on the right is thought to be a cousin named Belle, about eight.
