This advanced fine-art cross stitch design, Little Seamstress (also known as How Doth the Busy Bee), was developed from an illustration done by the well-known illustrator Jessie Willcox Smith for "A Child's Book of Old Verses" published in 1910. "As I work, who's watching me? My ten dolls in a row. They all attend quite patiently as I teach them to sew." Jessie Willcox Smith increased the appreciation of children in the American culture through her loving portrayal of them and their activities.
