Indian Fantasy, painted by American artist Marsden Hartley in 1914, was the inspiration for this fine-art downloadable cross stitch design. It is one of a group of paintings called the "Amerika" paintings (German spelling) that Hartley produced during his stay in Germany from 1913 to 1915. Hartley felt a strong spiritual and mystical attraction to the culture of the American Indian. This painting shows motifs of the Pueblo and Plains Indians throughout the painting, with a totem-related form topped by an eagle with outstretched wings against the sun as the focal point.
