This advanced fine-art cross stitch design, Dance at Bougival, was developed from an 1883 painting by the famed impressionist artist Pierre-Auguste Renoir. The setting is an open-air café on the Seine outside of Paris which was a popular recreation spot. A whirling couple dominates the composition with the focus being on the woman's face, red bonnet and dress. Today it hangs in the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston and remains one of Renoir'€™s most famous works of art. The woman in this painting was Suzanne Valadon from Montmartre whose illegitimate son, Maurice, later became the internationally acclaimed artist Maurice Utrillo.
