Step into the dazzling spectacle of vintage European carnival culture with Carnaval – Vinho do Porto by Leonetto Cappiello, transformed into a museum-quality full-coverage cross stitch pattern by Serenity Stitchworks.

Bursting with movement, drama, and theatrical elegance, this iconic advertising poster captures masked carnival revelers swirling through the night in flowing cloaks of electric blue, golden yellow, and vivid crimson. At the center stands a mysterious masked figure holding a bottle of Portuguese port wine, surrounded by confetti, streamers, and glowing celebration.

Known as one of the masters of early twentieth-century poster design, Cappiello created unforgettable advertising imagery through bold contrasts, striking silhouettes, and rich color harmonies. Carnaval – Vinho do Porto is a spectacular example of Art Deco and Belle Époque poster art that feels both glamorous and modern.

Carefully charted to preserve the dramatic lighting, saturated colors, and flowing costume details of the original artwork, this artistic cross-stitch design offers a visually exciting stitching experience and an unforgettable finished display piece.

Perfect for lovers of vintage advertising art, Art Deco style, carnival imagery, theatrical fashion, and museum-quality artistic cross-stitch designs, Carnaval – Vinho do Porto brings energy, elegance, and vintage celebration to your stitching collection.

This poster shows a pantomime figure being tempted by the masked woman holding a drink in the midst of a confetti-strewn background. It exhibits enchantment and temptation. This was a highly-prized Portuguese sweet wine, taking its name from Porto, the northern trade center of the small country. The grapes were not necessarily grown there, and the winery was actually located in the inland town Almeida, but the merchants made the association with Vinho do Porto because nearly all the region's wine was exported through there.
