This full-coverage, downloadable cross stitch design was developed from Georges Seurat's 1884 painting, A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte, introducing the art style of Pointillism to the world. It is Seurat's most famous painting, his "jewel," and can be seen at the Art Institute of Chicago where it is one of their major attractions.

Seurat was a very serious, disciplined painter and wanted to make a difference in the history of art, and with A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte, he certainly did. He is remembered as the pioneer of Pointillism, a Neo-Impressionist technique made up of tiny colorful dots. The painting was purchased in 1924 by the Art Institute of Chicago for an amount that would equal $328,000 in 2013 Dollars. Seurat's life was cut short by illness, and he died at the young age of 31. One can only wonder what the world has missed by his early death.

Your product has allowed me to continue with my stitching. I thought I would not be able to continue after my pattern was missing. I love the piece by George Seurat, his painting was very refreshing to one's mind and sense "A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of Grande Jatte". I can share my work after my crossstitch is complete. Now I can finish my work. Thank you
