This adorable little girl is hurrying to tie her shoe on her way home from school so she can catch up with her friends. This downloadable cross stitch design, Wait for Me!, was developed from the painting Wait for Me!, (sometimes called Returning Home from School) done by artist Sophie Anderson. She was born in Paris in 1823, but moved with her family to the United States in 1849 because of the 1848 Revolution. Anderson was best known for her paintings of Victorian women and children and her ability to capture the beautiful detail of the human face. This painting resides in a private collection. The date of the painting is unknown, as were many of Anderson's paintings. Her masterpieces can be found in art galleries and in the private collections of art lovers around the world.
