This fine-art cross-stitch design was developed from a painting by Joaquin Sorolla y Bastida which he named Valencian Fishergirl. Sorolla was a Spanish painter who greatly enjoyed painting outdoors, especially ocean and beach scenes. Sorolla's style was a variant of Impressionism. His best works were painted in the open air, often portraying the sunny seacoast of Valencia.
