This advanced fine-art cross stitch design, Robe de Voile Bleu Ancien, was developed from a rare print done by Louis Bureau and published in the Journal des Dames et des Modes in 1913 with only 1,279 copies published. This publication was similar to the Bon Ton Gazette but was scarcer than that publication. It was developed to appeal to the elite of Paris and contained high fashion plates and chatty articles for the lives of the privileged. The prints were developed in extravagantly vivid colors by means of the "pouchoir" method which was the precursor of silk screening which is now used for art prints.
