This advanced fine-art cross-stitch design, Petite Robe de taffetas, was developed from a pouchoir illustration published in the Journal des Dames et des Modes from 1912-1914.These extremely rare prints are similar to the Bon Ton Gazette but considered even more rare with only 1,279 copies published per issue. They were designed to appeal to the elite of Paris.
The publication was of incredible quality with high quality paper, breath-taking beauty of the prints and high quality art throughout. "The extravagantly vivid colors of the prints were created by the "pouchoir" process, wherein single layers of color were added by hand to a lithograph using a stencil, in a precursor of the silk screening technique which is now widely used for art prints. The best prints in this work are enhanced with genuine gold and silver."
