This advanced fine-art cross stitch design, II Penseroso, was developed from a painting done in 1875 by Victorian-era British painter, John Atkinson Grimshaw. Grimshaw was fascinated by flowers and thought plants should be allowed to grow undisturbed. This is one of Grimshaw's most successful and well-known figurative paintings, which shows a young woman seated in a conservatory among beautiful unpruned exotic plants, orchids and ferns.
