This fine art, advanced cross stitch design, Black Grid, was painted by Wassily Kandinsky in 1922, and is a well-known painting of his. Kandinsky, a Russian-born artist, was one of the first creators of pure abstraction in modern painting. In the years 1922 to 1933, his style became more geometrical, and he used circles , triangles and ovals with snake-like squiggles in his paintings.
